Marco Spagnoletti is a PhD candidate at the department of History and Civilizations at the European University Institute. He serves as a teaching tutor for the course “History and Institutions of the Modern Middle East” at the University of Bologna, where he earned an MA in Historical and Oriental Studies. He also holds a BA in Languages and Oriental Cultures at the University of Rome “La Sapienza.” His current doctoral project explores transnational solidarities between Palestinian Marxist parties and the Italian revolutionary left during the 1970s and is grounded in extended periods of fieldwork in Beirut and the Palestinian territories. His broader research interests include Global and Decolonial History, the Contemporary History of the Mediterranean, the History of food, and the entangled trajectories and “contaminations” between anti-imperialist struggles in the 1970s.
