Viola Pacini

Viola Pacini is a PhD candidate in the Global Histories, Cultures, and Politics department at the University of Bologna. After graduating from the University for Foreigners of Siena, she obtained a master’s degree in History and Oriental Studies at the University of Bologna, with a thesis on the debt bondage in the Gulf pearling industry. She also spent some periods abroad, at the University of Nizwa (Arabic language course), the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales of Paris (Erasmus) and the Institute of Arab & Islamic Studies dell’Università di Exeter (PhD visiting). Her current research focuses on the slave trade in the Arabian Peninsula during the first half of the 20th century.
