Viola Absinta

Viola Absinta is a Master’s student in Global Politics and Society at the University of Milan. She is concurrently pursuing a Professional Master’s Degree in Media, Language, and Communication in a Global Scenario (Arab World curriculum) at the Bicocca Academy, University of Milano-Bicocca. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Intercultural Communication from the University of Milano-Bicocca, where she specialized in Arabic language studies and the socio-cultural dynamics of Arab countries. Her undergraduate thesis, supervised by Prof. Caterina Roggero, is titled Tunisia 2011: Women’s Participation in the ā€œRevolution of Dignity.ā€ The Case of the Blogger and Activist Lina Ben Mhenni. Complementing her academic training, she completed an intensive Arabic conversation course for non-native speakers jointly organized by the University of Milano-Bicocca and Al al-Bayt University (Jordan). Her research interests focus on the SWANA region, with particular attention to gender issues, the role of social media in political transitions, and contemporary political dynamics.
