Sara Manna

Sara Manna is a PhD candidate in Urban Studies at the University of Milano-Bicocca. She obtained a Master’s degree in International Sciences at the University of Torino, with a specialization in MENA Politics, and a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistic Mediation at the University of Milano. During her academic and professional career, she specialised in the Moroccan context, conducting fieldwork for her Master’s dissertation and working with various local and international NGOs. These experiences allowed her to develop an in-depth and multi-faceted understanding of Morocco’s socio-political landscape. Her research interests focus on urban transformations in postcolonial contexts, with particular attention to political participation practices, processes of spatial re-signification, and the role of the cultural industry – especially music festivals – in the production and representation of place. Her main geographical areas of interest include North Africa and Southwest Asia.
