Enrico Maria La Forgia

Enrico Maria la Forgia is a PhD candidate in Social Sciences at the University of Padua, where he researches migration, religion, and civil society. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Sociology in Rome—a city where he was not born but where he grew up—he completed a master’s degree, also in Sociology, at Charles University in Prague (Univerzita Karlova v Praze), with a thesis on the identity formation of French youth with migrant backgrounds in Marseille. Curious by temperament and somewhat adventurous by nature, he combines his academic work with various public engagement initiatives, beginning with his involvement in the field of journalism and information. He is currently based in France, between Paris and Lille—cities where he has undertaken academic visiting periods and conducted part of his current research, which focuses on the relationship between the French state and Islamic civil society during periods of tension.
